Parallel parking, how to? 09/24/2010
Parallel parking is when you want to park your car in between 2 cars (ahead and at your back). There are 4 main points in doing so. Before doing it, stop beside a car as a guide. Now check your rear mirror if there's traffic, if none, then proceed. ![]() 1. Gear to Reverse. Slowly release your break until the right headlight of the front car or the left rear light of the front car reaches the arrow on picture. Break. ![]() 2. Full right on the steering wheel, release break slowly until the 2 headlights/rear lights of the car at your back is centered when looking at left side mirror, as shown on the picture. Break. ![]() 3. Make 2 left turns on the steering wheel then continue to release break until the right headlight / left rearlight of the front car is at the cross on the picture. Break. ![]() 4. Full left turn on sterring wheel then check your rearview mirror if the 2 headlights of the back car is at the center (or the 2 rearlights of the back car). Break. You can move the car forward by gearing to "Drive" then turn the wheel twice on the right. Break. Pull up hand-break, gear to parking, turn off the car. This guide is made using an automatic car. When you're ready to get out from the partking space, do the following: ![]() Break, gear to "reverse", pull down the hand break, slowly release the break so the car will reverse until there's an ample space between your car and the car the the back. Break, gear to "drive", steering wheel to full left turn, release break until the headlight of the front car is opposite the lock door of the passenger seat. Slight break, make 3 right turns until the car is almost straight, then 1 lef turn. Proceed with the usual driving.
