This coming October 2010, constant commuters using the NOL card of RTA in Dubai will have their free ride in either Dubai Metro, RTA buses, or Dubai water taxis.
For the moment, not all of Dubai metro's terminals are operational. But in a way or another, they make feeder buses in remote and busy places to accommodate everybody who wishes to take the metro.

For the RTA buses, whom I met first when I arrived in Dubai, thus preceding metro then water taxis, minimized the number of buses to give way to metro (as I heard), and always changing their bus routes, giving bit of a second confusions to commuters. Before the NOL card was e-card where you fill it with Aed100 and you can ride numerous times within a month. Nah, that was gone. Then they made the Aed2/ride card. But there was a time that you pay Aed1 for a ride, as in coin=cash!

While with water taxis, I haven't experienced it yet but by seeing the boat, man it's awesome! The 5 water taxis, which was launched  July, 2010 are very convenient in passing the waters of Dubai, even a pickup from Dubai Marina, Dubai Creek, Atlantis Hotel, Jumeirah Beach Hotel, and Dubai Festival City, to name a few. are provided.  Life are getting better and more expensive I should say.
